This historical marker says it all!
This little lake also known as Quihi Lake is a great fishing hole for catfish, perch and sunfish.
Most late afternoons and weekends, you'll find someone with a line in the water waiting for that tug that makes you smile and brace for the fight.
There have been some nice size fish caught and enjoyed at a family fish fry.
BUT when the area gets more than it's share of rain, this quiet, gently flowing, creek fed lake becomes a roaring, flooding danger. It swells out of it's bank swallowing the surrounding homes and farm land.
The flood of 1998 ran almost all the residents in the area out of their home, soaking their belongings and destroying crops.
